STOPGEL was created in 1995 to meet our own needs.

We ourselves are a family of fruit growers and winegrowers, and we must protect our crops too.

The problem of spring frost has become more and more recurrent over the last decades and it was no longer possible for us to leave the future of our farm to luck and the vagaries of the weather. We have tried various frost protection techniques and although the absolute solution does not exist, we have created the first frost candle at a large scale: an economical and easy to use solution that is easy to store and never expires. Today, twenty-five years later, we are still a family business committed to a cleaner and more responsible anti-frost control with the next generation anti-frost candles: STOPGEL GREEN.

We are located in La Roche de Glun, Drôme, France – in the Rhone Valley amidst apricot orchards and Syrah vineyards.

Since STOPGEL GREEN candles are in high demand and have fairly long lead times, we thank you for planning your orders as soon as possible. It is advisable to plan your orders as early as the fall preceding the following season and we will arrange delivery at your convenience.

All STOPGEL GREEN candles and barrels are shipped by us from our warehouse in La Roche de Glun, Drôme, France.

Shipping is calculated based on the number of pallets and the place of delivery. Please share with us the delivery address when requesting a quote.

All orders are shipped via our logistics partner. For France, please allow 1 to 2 business days to receive your orders after shipment. Please note: It is important to place your order well in advance – ideally in the fall or very early in the year.

For countries in the European Union, please give us your intra-community VAT number to not have to advance VAT.

Before shipping your order, we will contact you to plan together the reception of your STOPGEL GREEN anti-frost candles.

STOPGEL GREEN is the first 100% natural “wax” anti-frost candle. Indeed, it is made up of a 100% natural biofuel: STEARIN, while the petroleum candle is made from fossil fuels: PETROLEUM/PARAFFIN.

The wicks we use are made from 100% recycled cardboard

The wood used in the manufacture of our pallets comes from sustainably managed French forests.

STOPGEL GREEN anti-frost candles can be installed in orchards and vines cultivated organically (AB), High Environmental Value (HVE) plots, and even on labels with strict specifications such as Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC).

Our range is made up entirely of STOPGEL GREEN candles. We have not been producing petroleum candles since 2016 and we do not intend to go back to remain consistent with all the efforts that we and our fellow growers make every day on their farms.

We test our candles on our farm. These are the same candles that protect our orchards and vines from frost in spring and allow us to make our fruit and wine season.

Yes, each candle has a lot number for better tracking and continuous quality control.

All STOPGEL GREEN candles are made in La Roche de Glun in France with our team, some of whom have been with us for more than ten years.

STOPGEL GREEN is easy to store: indoors or outdoors, sheltered in a shed. Unlike petroleum candles, STOPGEL GREEN of natural origin does not soften nor ooze out of its bucket.

STOPGEL GREEN has no expiration date and will not lose effectiveness if stored over several seasons.
